FROM JEWELRY IDEA TO APPROVED SAMPLE

Jewelry Prototyping & Sample Development for Brands

HaoLustra helps jewelry brands turn sketches, reference images and early-stage product ideas into a clearer route toward physical samples. From our Qingdao jewelry factory, we support design and specification review, OEM/ODM development discussions, sampling, selected low-MOQ production, and the steps needed before bulk manufacturing.

Bring an idea or existing design. We can discuss materials, finishes, construction, sample approval and potential production requirements, with in-house surface finishing and quality-check capabilities for agreed production projects. Optional AI-assisted concept previews are visual references—not CAD files or physical samples.

THE STARTING POINT

What Is Jewelry Prototyping for a Brand?

Jewelry prototyping is the process of turning an idea into a design that can be assessed, refined, and—when appropriate—tested as a physical sample before production.

For a new jewelry brand, the goal is not simply to create an attractive picture. It is to find out whether the proposed size, proportions, components, materials, finish, and assembly can meet the intended product requirements.

For HaoLustra, this is a practical B2B development discussion—not just a digital rendering. We help brand owners identify what must be reviewed before a proposed design can become an approved product reference, then connect that discussion with our manufacturing, finishing and quality-check process when the project moves forward.

01

Clarify the concept

Turn sketches, references, and descriptions into a consistent visual and written direction that the development team can discuss.

02

Review the technical route

Identify which measurements, drawings, materials, or manufacturing checks may be needed to move beyond appearance.

03

Approve a meaningful sample

Use the physical sample to review fit, construction, finish, and the agreed details before considering production.

A MANUFACTURER BEHIND THE CONCEPT

Why Develop Your Jewelry Prototype with HaoLustra?

A concept preview is only a starting point. HaoLustra gives jewelry brands a practical connection between early design decisions, factory sampling and a possible production plan.

Our Qingdao-based factory supports OEM/ODM development, surface finishing, quality checks and repeat production. For a growing brand, the value is understanding the next manufacturing decision—not simply receiving another design image.

01 · FACTORY CONNECTION

From development to production

HaoLustra operates its own jewelry factory in Qingdao, China. Our team can discuss design requirements and sampling with the manufacturing steps that may follow, rather than treating a concept image as a finished product.

02 · OEM / ODM OPTIONS

More than one route to a collection

Bring your own design or technical reference for an OEM discussion, or explore suitable existing styles and selected modifications through an ODM route. The actual method is reviewed for each product.

03 · FINISHING & QUALITY

Review the details that buyers notice

HaoLustra’s production capabilities include in-house surface finishing, plating and inspection. During development we can discuss dimensions, connections, appearance, finish and checkpoints to agree before approving a sample.

04 · SMALL-BRAND PLANNING

Sampling before committing to scale

We support sample approval, flexible quantity discussions for suitable projects and planning for replenishment. For selected standard production programs, around 50 pieces per style is a working reference—not a guaranteed minimum for every custom design.

How HaoLustra Helps Turn Your Idea into a Sample

You can start without a complete technical file. We help clarify design options, revisions, sample costs and production requirements.

Development questionHow HaoLustra helps
Only a sketch, no CADStart with a sketch, reference image or written idea. HaoLustra helps identify dimensions, materials and missing details.
Will the design be manufacturable?A concept image defines the visual direction. Structure, dimensions, materials and CAD (if needed) are reviewed before sampling.
How many design revisions?Development may include up to 5 revision rounds with consolidated feedback and version tracking. Major redesigns or new tooling are quoted separately.
Development and sample costsReview design, CAD (if needed), tooling, sample and revision charges separately. Some standard projects start at about US$50 per style, subject to quotation.
Will bulk production match the sample?Use the approved sample to document dimensions, materials, finish, logo and packaging for production and QC checks.
Protecting original designsDiscuss an NDA, permitted file use and tooling ownership before sharing sensitive artwork; terms require written agreement.
How is jewelry set MOQ counted?Confirm whether quantities apply to complete sets or individual necklaces, earrings and bracelets—for example, 50 sets versus 50 pieces of each item.
What happens after submission? Our team reviews the brief and returns any approved concept preview; scope, cost and timing are confirmed at subsequent development steps.

DESIGN REQUEST STUDIO

Start with Your Sketch or Jewelry Idea

Start with HaoLustra even if you only have a sketch, inspiration photo, or written idea. Our team reviews the product direction before discussing any technical drawings, sampling costs or production commitment.

An initial request can be submitted for review before a CAD or sampling engagement is agreed. Terms for paid work and up to five design revision rounds are defined per project.

The HaoLustra design-request tool is intended for early-stage product conversations. After email verification, your idea can be submitted for human review. A concept image, if prepared, is checked by our team before being shared and is never presented as manufacturing-ready artwork.

  • Create an account and verify your email address.
  • Describe the jewelry type, style, materials, and intended use.
  • Submit up to three reference images or sketches.
  • Our team reviews the brief and can prepare an optional visual concept preview manually.
  • Receive an email notification and sign in to view the reviewed result.
Important: Concept previews are visual illustrations. They are not engineering drawings, CAD files, physical prototypes, or confirmation that a design can be manufactured. CAD, sample scope, timing, and costs are discussed separately.

UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE APPROVING

Concept Preview vs. CAD vs. Physical Sample

A visual idea, technical design file, and manufactured sample answer different questions. They should not be treated as interchangeable production approvals.

Jewelry sketches, CAD views and metal accessories for design comparison
StageWhat it helps answerWhat it does not confirm
Concept Preview
Visual direction
Overall style, shape, proportions as an illustration, and a direction for further discussion.Exact dimensions, metal composition, engineering tolerances, structure, durability, or manufacturing feasibility.
CAD / Technical Specification
Defined design details
Dimensions, geometry, some structural relationships, and information needed to assess a possible manufacturing method.Actual surface finish, comfort, physical assembly performance, or final material properties without further checks.
Physical Sample
Real-world evaluation
How a specific sample looks and feels, construction details, dimensions, assembly, selected material and finish outcomes.Automatic approval of every future batch; tolerances and bulk quality controls still need to be agreed.
01

Concept Preview

Best for: discussing design direction. Not proof of exact dimensions, materials, durability, or manufacturability.

02

CAD / Technical Details

Best for: specifying geometry, dimensions, or technical construction. Not a physical validation of every finish or performance.

03

Physical Sample

Best for: reviewing a real produced item. Bulk specifications and acceptance criteria still need agreement.

A concept preview provided through the Design Studio is illustrative. If the project moves toward sampling, technical requirements, costs, and timelines must be evaluated separately.

BEFORE YOU APPROVE

What Must Be Checked Before Sampling?

Before paying for a physical jewelry prototype, use a brief checklist to reduce misunderstandings. The points below are conversation starters, not a claim that every material or process is offered for every project.

Overall measurements and proportions
Materials and plating direction
Clasp, connector, and assembly details
Weight and wearing comfort
Color, texture, and finish reference
Logo placement and visible details
Packaging or set components, if relevant
What counts as sample approval

Where needed, confirm which measurements or photographs should be included in the final sample review.

PLAN YOUR NEXT STEP

Sample Cost, Five Design Revisions, Fee Credits and MOQ

HaoLustra treats early concept review, technical development, physical sampling and bulk production as separate stages. A visual preview does not automatically include CAD files, tooling or free physical samples.

01

01 / SAMPLE DEVELOPMENT COST

For some standard projects, sample development may start at around US$50 per style. CAD, tooling, selected finishes, physical samples and shipping must be itemized; this is an indication, not a fixed quote.

02

02 / UP TO FIVE DESIGN REVISIONS

Design development can be discussed with up to five revision rounds under the agreed scope. Consolidate feedback and track versions. Whether a round is included in the fee and whether it applies to CAD or physical samples is confirmed per project.

03

03 / CREDIT & MOQ TERMS

Sample development fees may be credited toward a qualifying later production order under agreed terms. Bulk MOQ varies by design, material, components and whether a jewelry set is counted by set or individual item; approximately 50 pieces per style is a reference for some programs, not a universal minimum.

Figures are indicative only, not a binding quote, a promise of five free physical resamples or a guaranteed lead time. Request written detail of deliverables, revision scope, tooling, shipping and any credit conditions before payment.

TURN APPROVAL INTO A CLEAR RECORD

How an Approved Prototype Becomes a Production Reference

A useful development record explains not only what the design looks like, but which version was reviewed and which details have been accepted.

  • Reference image, sketch, or approved technical file version
  • Dimensions and component list agreed for review
  • Material and finish options confirmed for the sample
  • Photographs and notes from physical sample evaluation
  • Revision history and remaining open questions
  • Written confirmation before the production stage

When a sample project progresses, HaoLustra can use a documented approval reference to coordinate the confirmed product details, production scope and relevant quality checks. Our factory also supports surface finishing, production inspection and repeat-order planning.

Track each design-revision round (up to five within the agreed scope), then lock the approved sample and specifications so production does not refer to an obsolete version.

QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Jewelry Prototyping FAQs

Practical answers for brands exploring custom jewelry prototypes and sample development.

Can I start with only a sketch or reference photo?

Yes. HaoLustra can start an initial development conversation from a sketch, reference photo or written idea. Tell us the product type, approximate dimensions, material/finish direction, and what you need to validate. Our team can identify which extra details may be required before any physical sample is planned.

Do I need a CAD file before requesting a jewelry prototype?

Not necessarily. HaoLustra can review a design direction before a finished CAD file exists. Technical drawings, CAD geometry or tooling discussions may still be required for certain designs; their scope and who provides the files must be agreed for the individual project.

Is an AI concept preview the same as a physical prototype?

No. A concept preview helps illustrate a possible appearance or design direction. It does not verify dimensions, structural strength, materials, plating quality, or manufacturing feasibility. These points require a separate technical review and, where appropriate, a physical sample.

How much does jewelry prototyping cost?

HaoLustra reviews sampling requirements by design. Cost drivers can include design complexity, technical drawings, selected materials, plating or finish, tooling, number of sample pieces and revision scope. A visual concept review and a physical-sampling engagement are separate steps; send your brief for a project-specific discussion.

How long does jewelry sample development take?

HaoLustra does not promise one timeline for all prototype projects. The schedule depends on design readiness, technical work, material/finish availability, tooling and revisions. We discuss the applicable timeline only after reviewing requirements.

Can I request design changes before approving a sample?

HaoLustra can discuss up to five rounds of design-development revisions within the agreed brief. Submit consolidated feedback and track each updated version. The included fee, whether revisions cover CAD or physical samples, and the treatment of major design changes or new tooling are agreed per project; this is not unlimited free redesign or retooling.

Does requesting a concept preview mean I must place a bulk order?

No. Submitting a HaoLustra design request is not itself a bulk-production order. Any charge for additional CAD, physical sampling or later manufacturing must be clearly agreed in writing for the actual project.

What do the five design revisions include?

HaoLustra can discuss up to five design-development revision rounds under a defined project scope. Which changes qualify, whether rounds are included in the fee, and whether CAD or physical samples are covered must be agreed first. Major structural changes or new tooling may require a separate quotation.

How much does a standard jewelry sample start at?

For some standard projects, sample development may begin around US$50 per style, but each project is quoted separately. Confirm whether CAD/3D, molds, physical samples, plating, shipping and revisions are included. Sample fees may be credited toward qualifying production orders under agreed terms.

Does MOQ apply to a complete jewelry set or each component?

Define whether a necklace, earrings and bracelet are priced and counted as one complete set or as three individual styles. Confirm material, production count and packaging for each component; do not assume “50 pcs per style” means 50 complete sets.

Can we discuss an NDA for an unreleased original design?

Yes, confidentiality terms, permitted file access and ownership of CAD, molds and project images can be discussed before sensitive design materials are exchanged. The applicable protection depends on the actual signed agreement.

How does an approved sample guide bulk consistency?

Document the approved sample, dimensions, metal, finish, logo position, clasps, components and packaging. These become references for production and appropriate QC checks. Any tolerances and acceptance criteria must still be agreed in the order.
